The varsity field hockey team won their game last night against the Catoctin Cougars with a final score of 2-0.

Throughout the entire game, the Lancers dominated the ball, rarely letting Catoctin have possession. This led to many shots for the Lancers. After a slow start to the first half, the Lancers scored twice within the last 8 minutes. With a 2-0 cushioned lead at the half, the Lancers relied on their strong defense the rest of the way to shut out Catoctin.

Olivia Geisler led the way for the Lancers, scoring both of their goals. Ashley Ridgely also chipped in, assisting both of Geisler’s goals.

Junior field hockey player Shannon Coggins was more than satisfied with the team’s effort. “We all worked together as a team and pushed each other to keep going. We wanted to end the season with a win for our seniors.”

The girl’s field hockey team concluded the regular season 8-4, which is a major improvement recent years of having more losses than wins.

With the playoffs around the corner, Coggins says that the team is focused. “We want to beat Middletown in the Central Maryland Conference (CMC) Championship and just take it one game at a time throughout the playoffs.”

The field hockey team plays their next game on Saturday, October 20 against Middletown at Hood College for the CMC Championship game.
