Class of 2018 Bright Future: Katie Constantine is ready to Test(udo) her skills at Maryland
Katie Constantine chose to attend University of Maryland largely because it’s a family tradition; both of her brothers and father attended.
Katie plans to major in biology and then get an advanced degree to become a pediatric nurse.
“To overcome obstacles in college, I would form a study group to help work on assignments together, but I’d have to say that I’d eat a lot of quesadillas because they’re my safe food,” said Constantine.
“Mrs. [Jen] Purgason has helped me with not just my math classes last year, but I can go to her as a friend and get advice from her and just to have a friendly conversation whenever I need it,” said Constantine.
Constantine plans to join a dance club, to keep busy in college. She was a pom and dance captain this year.
“Taking a lot of different classes in high school really helped to prepare me for college because I had no idea that I was really into the science field. After I took AP Bio, I knew I wanted to pursue a career closely related to that,” said Constantine.
Katie’s advice to underclassmen is to definitely take advantage of the tutoring opportunities and form study groups because that’s how I did well in school,” said Katie.
“In the future I’m really looking forward to meeting new people who are in the same academic field as me because at the moment I don’t know anyone else in the nursing program. But I’m excited to college since Kelsey and I are rooming together,” said Constantine. Kelsey Ward and Katie Constantine have been friends since 8th grade, and they shared the responsibility of captain with Mary Taylor.
As a connoisseur of Vine references, Katie hopes to brighten other students’ days with a laugh while at Maryland.
