On March 8, members of the Shepherd University band performed for students in band, drama and choir.

LHS music director Kevin Lloyd introduced Dr. Robert Tudor, the Director of Vocal Activities and the Chair of the Department of Music at Shepherd University.

Mr. Lloyd has had a long affiliation with Shepherd University and it’s music industry. He was an adjunct percussion instructor there from 1990-1995.

Performances included four choral ensembles for men and women. Other music included a wind ensemble, two jazz ensembles, a student orchestra, a guitar ensemble, a chamber music ensemble, and the Ram band. The Ram band is the best small-school marching band in the country.

Mr. Lloyd said, “The jazz ensemble, directed by Dr.Kurtis Adams, stood out as the strongest of the groups, but they were all very good”

This is just one of six stops over the next three days for Shepherd University, and after their performances, they go on Spring break.  Their purpose is entertainment and trying to recruit members from LHS to apply to Shepherd.

Tavian Crawford, class of 2019, said, “[The Shepherd University band] was great. Their music sound amazing. If I was in band, I’d go to Shepherd.”
