Oh, the places you’ll go: Wynkoop and Yammarino earn their stripes at Towson University

Emma Wynkoop and Alyssa Yammarino will study at Towson University this fall. Both girls look forward to continuing their activities they were involved with in high school.

Yammarino said, “I’m going to try out for Towson’s pom team. I really enjoyed being on poms in high school and the great things I experienced with the team.”

Wynkoop plans to minor in theater. She said, “Some of my best memories are backstage during shows.”

Wynkoop and Yammarino both plan to study education.

“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I think that’s because I had such great teachers early on,” said Yammarino.

Wynkoop said, “I want to teach after high school. I spent a long time not knowing what I’m passionate about or who I really was, but I really think that finding the group of friends I have now helped me find my place where I’m happiest.”

They anticipate their change in environment and study habits. Wynkoop said, “I’m planning on double majoring and having a minor, so I’ll be working a lot, but I’m excited for it.”

Wynkoop thanked her parents, Ms. Angela Smithhisler, and her best friend, Garrett Wiehler, for making her try new things that seemed scary at first.

Yammarino’s advice for underclassmen is, “Time management is really important. I had to learn new ways to organize my time. Don’t slack off. You’ll regret it.”
