LHSsees2020: Elena Guardia is ‘Bama bound
From “Roll Tribe” to “Roll Tide”
Elena Guardia riding the Crimson tide down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama from her home in New Market, Maryland.
Guardia plans to attend the University of Alabama to study social work. She plans to work with families or veterans who suffer with PTSD.
Though Guardia was a cheerleader all four years of high school, she plans to get involved in different activities in college like Greek life, Christian groups, and charity or community service.
“I knew I wanted to go to a huge school with lots of traditions and pride,” said Guardia. “They also have really good social work and Juris Doctor program for my masters degree.”
“If I don’t work with soldiers, I want to fight for kids in court, which is why I would get my JD in addition to my Masters of Social Work.”
With an undergraduate population of 28,026 students, a campus of 1,000 acres, and long-time traditions like “Big Al the elephant,” the Houndstooth, and the “Million Dollar band” among others, Guardia found just what she was looking for.
“When I entered campus, I guess I had ‘the feeling,'” said Guardia. “I’m most excited for rushing, football, and meeting the people I’ll be spending the next four years with!”
