After being rescheduled multiple times due to winter weather advisories, the senior boys’ basketball players and senior cheerleaders were finally able to walk across the gym for their senior night this past Monday, February 23.

It was an emotional night for the athletes who have played and performed together, some for four years.

Thanks to cheerleaders and parents, walls in the gym and athletic hallway were decorated with posters and photos of seniors, illustrating their transformation from elementary to high school sports.

The senior cheerleaders  include Phoebe Kolesar, Alex Palmer, Denali Packard, Tess Lyons, Rebecca Barsy, and Rachel Peterson.

After being escorted by their parents to hug their coach Janet Ingram and shake principal David Kehne’s hand, all of the girls walked proudly across the gym, and started off one of their very last games cheering, “Here we go Lancers.”

The senior boys’ basketball players were recognized as well. A bittersweet night to the athletes, the Lancers were victorious against the Westminster Owls with a score of 68-45 and later celebrated with a banquet in the cafeteria.

The banquet was prepared by players’ moms and included an exchange of “spirit buckets” for the cheerleaders and basketball players, a long-standing tradition.
