Band plays for Santa’s Workshop: Photo of the day 12/22/15
The band performs “I Saw Three Ships.”
The Santa’s Workshop band concert, directed by Mr. Kevin Lloyd, was held second period on December 22.
To begin, the band performed the song “I Saw Three Ships,” and followed up with an adaptation of “Silent Night,” which included singing–not something the band usually does. Lloyd then introduced some of the instruments to the New Market Elementary School students who came to enjoy the music.
After the elementary school students learned some of the key instruments, the band continued to play more festive music. They played “Sleigh Ride” and, to finish, performed “A Christmas Festival,” which is a medley composed of different Christmas songs.
The band spent three weeks preparing for this annual event. Emily Kurupas, a junior who plays the trombone, said, “I really liked performing for Santa’s Workshop because it gets me in the holiday spirit.”
