On Friday, June 5th, Mrs. Jamie Hendi’s Government and AP Political Science classes and Mr. Andres Wright’s AP Spanish went on a field trip to Washington, D.C.

Departing at 8:15, students, teachers, and chaperones set off on a bumpy bus drive to the Capitol. The AP Spanish students went to the National Gallery of Art, while the history students set off with their assigned groups to explore the Capitol Building. Under the supervision of each group’s assigned chaperone, students were free to gawk at and peruse all of the replica documents, models, and historical artifacts in the mini museum located in the Capitol Building Visitor Center. Students were split into three separate time slots to watch a short film about the history of America and the Capitol. Following this film, students were led on a guided tour through the famous Rotunda, Crypt, and Statuary Hall.

Once all of the tours were over, lunch was served at the Capitol cafeteria, with food ranging from barbecue to sushi to desserts. Then, the buses were all loaded up and returned to the school.
