In an effort to protect the promise of public education, Frederick County Public Schools is bringing the community together for a special community event, Building Frederick’s Future, at Oakdale High School on Thursday, January 9 at 7 p.m. Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban will deliver an important message regarding the future of education in Frederick County as she presents her proposed budget for the 2014-2015 school year (FY 15).
During the event, Dr. Alban will lead an honest discussion on the priorities, direction and future of our outstanding public schools and address funding areas that need to be developed to ensure students have the resources and support necessary for college and career-readiness.
“Strong schools mean a strong Frederick County,” said Dr. Alban. “Our schools help drive economic growth, grow future leaders, and boost our quality of life. We are building Frederick’s future by preparing every one of our students to succeed.”
Building Frederick’s Future will also celebrate Frederick County’s amazing students by showcasing a variety of student groups and performances from schools throughout the county. Linganore’s Lancer Marching Band will be one of the many groups that will perform at the event.
“FCPS is a premier school system and we’re determined to stay that way,” said Dr. Alban. “We need the community’s support to overcome budget obstacles so we can continue to equip all our students to succeed, no matter their circumstances. That’s the promise of public education. Please join me on January 9; together we can protect the promise.”
