On Saturday the 18th, vinyl lovers everywhere got up early in preparation for Record Store Day.

Record Store Day, which takes place on the third Saturday of every April, is an event in which exclusive music is produced or reissued on vinyl to help benefit local record stores. Many of these represses and new records were highly sought after, and it was a race to get these rare items.

“I’m most excited for the re-press of Brand New’s Deja Entendu and At the Gate’s Garden of Grief,” explained junior Jack Dempster.

Jennifer Baker, the manager at the Frederick Record Exchange, warned that the lines were expected to be long. In light of this information, Jack Dempster and senior Brad Pyne got up at 7 a.m., but still waited over an hour and a half to get up to the exclusive record shelf.

While in line, one man was heard describing how his friend had arrived very early in the morning but had not even reached the front of the line yet.

Although later then expected, the two were still able to make off with a pretty decent haul, including Marvin Gaye’s How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Makthaverskan’s Witness, the Rocky Horror Picture Show Time Warp EP, and much more.
