On February 5, Linganore senior Shawn Pelovitz signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his football career at Muhlenberg College located in Allentown PA.
Since sophomore year, Pelovitz has been a varsity athlete, and has shown major growth. He took a leadership position as a team captain for the Linganore High School (LHS) varsity football team in 2024. He also earned an All-Region quarterback selection, and an All-Frederick County quarterback selection, first team.
Pelovitz had multiple outstanding plays and highlights throughout all four years of his highschool football career, but one really stood out to him. “Breaking the school single season pass and touchdown record against Bel Air in our third round playoffs.” said Pelovitz. Pelovitz had incredible stats for the 2024 season, with 32 touchdown passes. He was the second lead rusher on the team, with 400 yards, has rushed 5 touchdowns, and caused 37 touchdowns in one season. This 2024 season he really got to shine as a star quarterback and prove himself as a noteworthy athlete.
At the age of 5, football was already a big part of Shawn Pelovitz’s life. “He’s been playing tackle football since he’s five years old and just took to it right away,” said Matthew Pelovitz, Shawn Pelovitz’s dad.

As he grew with the game, he received encouragement from his family and teammates; however, at the end of the day, he’s seen as a self-motivated athlete.
“He didn’t really need a lot of encouragement,” Matthew Pelovitz said, “He’s self-motivated, very much into taking care of himself and making sure he was prepared to do his best.”
“One of his greatest traits was his ability to turn a bad play, a play that was breaking down, into a touchdown,” head football coach Rick Conner said.
Pelovitz is known for being able to take off running to make something happen in a play where it seems impossible.
“He has an amazing arm and touches; he can make all the throws:the long ball, the intermediate to short,” Conner said. “He could turn a bad play into a good play. His ability to extend plays when things didn’t work out perfect and make positive yards was just incredible.”
Pelovitz is excited to continue playing football and finding community with his new team. He is planning to focus academically on physical science to move forward in his engineering career. Pelovitz said he plans to “put academics first before being an athlete.”
Pelovitz felt an immediate pull toward Muhlenberg just after his first overnight visit.
“It was just something about the culture there that really brought me that, like, attracted me to it,” Pelovitz said.“Because all the players were, like, best friends. I felt really, like, a part of the team even though I was just a recruit, and that’s kind of what, like, made me choose Muhlenberg.”
His goal for college is to start as many years as he can, and he is willing to work as hard as he needs to get there. After college, if he is given the opportunity to continue playing football, he said he would take it.
