Linganore’s varsity baseball team lost to the South Carroll Cavaliers 7-1 at home on April 8.
The game was tied 1-1 until the 8th inning when South Carroll went on a six-run rally to close the game out.
South Carroll had 7 runs on 9 hits, while Linganore had 1 run on 5 hits.
Linganore sophomore Chase Perry pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 run on 4 hits. He was pleased with his performance after the game.
“I think I did pretty well against a really tough team,” Perry said. “[I] definitely could have been better, but overall, [I’m] pretty satisfied. [It] just stinks about what happened in the 8th inning.”
Senior Zach Dodson scored Linganore’s only run, and he was not happy about the outcome of the game.
“I may have scored the only run, but South Carroll’s 6 run rally in the 8th really crushed us, and we could have done better to prevent that,” Dodson said.
Junior Jason Capone agreed with Dodson’s take. Although he had a double, he was not happy after the game.
“We played really well up until the 8th inning, Capone said. “[It was] not the greatest 8th inning, but it is what it is. Onto the next game.”
Senior Brayden Cordery of South Carroll had 9 strikeouts during the game and was pleased with the 8th inning rally.
“I pitched really well for a long time, and then my teammates came in and took care of the rest in the 8th,” Cordery said. “It was an overall great team win against a really good team. Hats off to Linganore; they played really well today.”
Senior Hayden Rathmann went 2 for 3 and scored one of the runs for the Cavaliers, and he was also pleased with the win after the 8th inning rally.
“It was a really good way win for the team after the rally in the last inning.” Rathmann said.
The Linganore Varsity baseball team play their next game on April 22 away at South Hagerstown at 4:45 p.m.
