On November 8, Annabel Geisler signed her National Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division l women’s lacrosse at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.
“I always knew I wanted to play in college,” Geisler said, “I have trained with my older sister for my entire life and watching her play for Campbell University really sparked my interest.”
Giesler was highly recruited and received offers from many different schools. From talking to coaches, visiting schools and playing high level lacrosse, the recruiting process became extremely stressful for her.
“It was a very long process: we talked to and visited so many different programs,” said Geisler’s mother, Heather Geisler.
“Once I visited Presbyterian it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders … everything just felt right, and I knew that was the place for me,” Annabel Geisler said.
Between the small campus, positive team culture and the smaller program which allows her more playing time, Geisler found her home.
Geisler has played for the Linganore girls’ lacrosse program all four years of high school, each of which she was a member of the varsity team. Her former head coach, Brooke Wilson, credits Geisler for much of the team’s success over the years and is grateful to have coached her.
“I’ve always been so impressed with not only her ability to see the field, but her understanding of concepts and dynamics, and her fluid communication with all coaches and teammates,” Wilson said.
These traits have earned her many athletic awards. Geisler earned all-county honorable mention titles for her freshman and sophomore years on varsity, and last season, she earned second team all-county.
Geisler has played lacrosse since she was about 5 years old. Throughout that 12 years of experience, she has become both knowledgeable and experienced in the game. That knowledge and experience will find her great success playing at the next level.
Wilson discussed all that Geisler has to offer Presbyterian’s program.
“She is an all-around team player,” Wilson said. “Every year, she has had almost equal goals and assists [and is] always looking out for her teammates.”
Geisler shared her excitement for continuing her atlhetic career at the collegiate level.
“I am really looking forward to playing at the next level with girls who have the same love for the sport as I do,” Geisler said.
At Presbyterian, Geisler plans on majoring in art education and she hopes to become an art teacher after college.
