On Wednesday, May 3, Linganore High School hosted its first-ever powderpuff football game. The game served as a fundraiser for mental health awareness and suicide prevention in honor of May being National Mental Health Awareness Month.

The event consisted of junior vs. senior teams. Selected girls competed in a flag football game, boys cheered on the sideline and members of the football and cheer teams volunteered to coach the players.

This event was founded by two juniors, Maddie Madariaga and Tess Engel, with the help of Linganore Athletic Director Howie Putterman.

The juniors team defeated the seniors with a final score of 27-7.

This first-year fundraiser proved highly successful as the event raised $1,500 to be donated to the Mental Health Association of Frederick County.
