Markoff’s Haunted Forest is a Halloween themed attraction located in Poolesville, MD that has been scaring guests for over 25 years! Markoff’s includes a haunted trail, haunted town and a huge hang out area known as Markoff’s Midway.

When guests first arrive at the forest, they can find themselves entering the Midway area. Entrance into this area is free and here guests will find two huge bonfires, food, drinks, music, face painting, a maze, fun games such as a high adventure Death Roll (ropes course) and more. If guests do not like being scared, they can hang out in this area and enjoy the DJ, zipline and even fire dancers.

First time guest, Caitlyn Jenkins, said that her favorite part of the Midway area was “seeing someone win money by walking across the death roll. The boy won like $56. I also liked how the DJ would interact with the crowd. He was so funny!”

The main attraction is the mile long Haunted Trail. Guests will enter under a giant skull and walk through the woods along a dimly lit trail through several creepily decorated scenes. Some of the scenes include a carnival, house, church, graveyard, viking ship and even a UFO! According to one of the three chainsaw actors that scare guests at the end of the trail, his favorite scene was the “junk yard, [because it has] a lot of music and strobe lights.”

Another attraction Markoffs has to offer is the haunted town. Guests start the excursion on a hay ride that drops them off at a corn maze. This corn maze has jump scares that lead you into an old town filled with a church, mineshaft, butcher shop, jail, saloon, cat houses and more. Long time guest, Kaelyn Hanlon, conveyed that her favorite part was, “when the big balloon was pushing against us. It felt a little like a weighted blanket but also a little claustrophobic.”

The cost of the event depends on the date that guests visit and the number of attractions they participate in. The admission into the event benefits Calleva, an organization dedicated to building young leaders through positive outdoor experiences.

First time guest Aurora Ward said, “It’s an amazing experience and it’s worth a lifetime.”

Check out Markoff’s Haunted Forest if you’re into getting scared, experiencing new things, trying new foods and more! If you need to know more about Markoff’s Haunted forest do not forget to check out The Scare Factor and Maryland Haunted Houses for more information.
