Goundry will use his “force” to win the Mr. Linganore crown as Luke Skywalker
Luke Goundry is a high energy guy with a big personality. Goundry looks to use this to his advantage at the Mr. Linganore competition on March 7 at 7:00 p.m.
“Growing up I would always come to the shows, and seeing how much fun the students all had made me want to be a part of the fun,” said Goundry.
Goundry chose Luke Skywalker to be his character for Mr. Linganore: “Men of Vision.”
“I chose Luke Skywalker beacuse I always loved Star Wars growing up and looked up to him, also we have the same name, obviously,” said Goundry. For the competition, each contestant needs and escort, manager and dance partner, Goundry choose Clare Beiter to be all three for him.
“I think Luke has some fun ideas for the show so far, he’s very outgoing so he’s definitely going to do well at Mr. Linganore,” said Beiter.
Goundry is involved in SGA as the class of 2020 Vice President, he is also part of NHS.
“I’m very excited to have fun with my friends and the other contestants at the show. I’ve heard great things about the whole day of the show, so I’m really looking forward to it,” said Goundry.
Mr. Linganore opens with an introduction in which each contestant portrays a character that they believe could represent them throughout the show. Like a beauty pageant, the show consists of judge scored portions such as talent, formal wear, a question/answer segment, and ballroom dancing. A final question decides the winner.
Many of the contestants in Mr. Linganore this year participate in theatre or dance, so they have a natural advantage in some areas.
“I’m a little worried about some of the contestants that are really involved in theatre. They have experience on the stage, but I think my personality will help narrow the playing field,” said Goundry.
Goundry hasn’t decided on where he wants to go to college, but he’s looking at Virginia Tech and the University of Tennessee. He is interested in civil engineering. Goundry would love to finish his senior year by being crowned Mr. Linganore 2020.
Come out to support Goundry and all the other contestants at Mr. Linganore on March 7 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available from any of the contestants or at the door.
