Ryan Barthlow signs his National Letter of Intent

On November 13, Ryan Barthlow signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division III baseball at Penn State Harrisburg. Barthlow was one of two baseball players to sign to play baseball at the collegiate level, joining Garrett Schwartzbeck who signed to Elizabethtown College.

Outside of school, Barthlow has split time between playing for the Westminster Titans Baseball Club and most recently Mount Airy Post 191 American Legion. Barthlow has been a member of the baseball program for all four years. Barthlow is also a defensive end on the football team and has been a part of Linganore football for four years.

Barthlow joins a Nittany Lions team who is coming off an excellent 2019 campaign, with the team surging to a 33-15-1 record. The Nittany Lions compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference against teams such as Penn State Abington, Penn State Berks, and Keuka College.

Barthlow was ecstatic about not only his future baseball team, but the school itself. “The baseball program is well-organized, and they finished first in their conference. The campus itself is great. It is both big and small at the same time, which I love,” said Barthlow.

Ashley Barthlow, Ryan’s mother, couldn’t be happier to watch her son sign to play at the collegiate level. “We are elated to know that Ryan will be able to fulfill his dream to play baseball in college. At a young age, Ryan was a standout athlete in football, baseball, and basketball. He loves sports so much! He has a passion for sports and we have always wanted him to be able to play sports in high school. Now that he has the opportunity to play collegiate baseball, we are over the moon!”

Ryan Barthlow looks to close out his high school baseball career in fashion when Linganore baseball starts up again in the spring. Barthlow and the Lancers hope to build on their 2019 record of 14-6, which was their highest win total in the team’s last five seasons.
