#NationalSigningDay: Damien the Great Dane welcomes Ambush to football AU
On February 6, Jackson Ambush signed his National Letter of Intent to play at University at Albany. UA is NCAA Division I Football. Jackson plays middle linebacker and has complied 110 tackles along with 6 sacks during his career.
“Jackson’s a physical, hard-nosed inside linebacker. He may not be the biggest guy, but he runs really well. He fits our style of defense,” said Greg Gattuso, the university’s head coach in a UA Welcome Profile.
Albany University has been named one of “America’s top colleges” by Forbes Magazine. The school has a 53% acceptance rate and a competitive football team according to a Niche online review
“He’s going to have a great career up there in New York, and we can’t wait to go up and watch him play,” Coach Conner said.
Ambush’s parents, Keli and Bobby, are extremely excited. They told Jackson that this decision was completely his choice. Keli and Bobby said they are going to miss him every day, and they are very proud of him.
“He’s my youngest; he’s my baby. I still call him ‘Baby Boy,’” Keli Ambush said.
Ambush plans to major in business and finance and knows what’s ahead. “I have to get better at managing my time between academics and athletics in college,” said Ambush.
Campus life and enthusiastic coaches attracted Ambush to Albany. Ambush said, “I’m not nervous since I’ve been taught for the past 3 years how to play at the next level.”
Albany’s football team has won six Northeast Conference Championships. The team is also known for exceptional players such as Dev Holmes who was given a HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-American Honorable Mention.
The Albany University football program has already accepted eighteen new players from all over the country.
