6 Reasons you should have Disney Plus

by Ashley Nash, Editor

Disney Plus offers shows, movies, shorts, and originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. Disney’s new original show’s episodes are released once a week, while the old shows and movies are all there for binge watching.

The streaming service costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year(which would be $5.83 a month). Buying a year is a great Christmas gift for the family. The $69.99 is worth it for the year. They also offer a bundle deal, which includes Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu for all $12.99 a month.

Here are the 6 main reasons you should have Disney Plus.

1. Every old and new Disney Show and Movie

This is the main reason why I wanted Disney Plus. Being able to watch shows like The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place is amazing. There are so many good shows and movies I want to re-watch. The streaming service also offers old Disney Original movies, the ones on Disney Channel and the ones that were in the theater. Disney Plus has every Pixar movie but two; Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2. Toy Story 4 will be released early 2020 and The Incredibles 2 will be July 30, 2020.

2. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

In February when Disney announced this series, I was super angry. I thought Disney was trying to make a High School Musical 4 but with a completely new cast. Once the Disney Plus release date came closer, I saw a trailer for this show and found out that I was wrong and that wasn’t their intention. Now after watching the first few episodes, I really like the show. Some parts are kinda cringey, but that’s always how Disney has been because the audience is younger children. I also think some of the drama is unrealistic to high school students.

3. Marvel

I am a big Tom Holland fan and I was very sad when I saw that Spider-man Homecoming wasn’t part of Disney Plus. DP has some of the Marvel films, but not all of them. Disney is adding more Marvel films next year, Black Panther is coming March 4, Avengers: Infinity War June 25, and Ant Man and the Wasp comes July 29. DP has many more series based on movies then the actual movies. Unless you’re young boy you most likely aren’t going to watch these. These series based on Marvel characters are cartoons as well which makes me not want to watch them even more. But nevertheless, once more Marvel movies are out, I will be watching the Marvel section.

4. Exclusive Movies

Disney Plus has exclusive movies only to Disney Plus members. Lady and the Tramp(live version) is one of these movies, it won’t come into theaters or be offered on any other platforms. So the only way to watch is through Disney plus. The Lady and the Tramp movie was super good, I loved it. There is also Noelle, a Disney original Christmas movie, it’s about Kris Kringle’s daughter (Anna Kendrick) trying to find her brother and saving Christmas.

5. Original Series

There are many new shows that Disney is releasing along with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Many people are watching Star Wars: The Mandalorian, which is set five years after Return of the Jedi. They also have The World According to Jeff Goldblum, The Imagineering Story, Encore, and many more. Disney is creating new shows trying to get more people to be enticed by the streaming service. The Imagineering Story shows behind the scenes on how Disney Parks around the world were created and the history behind them. This show is like an added perk to having Disney Plus.

6. Pixar Shorts

DP also offers Pixar shorts, they have shorts that you could only see before a movie in the theaters. They also have shorts that many haven’t seen before, there are many relating to the Toy Story and Car series. One of the short films is Bao, it’s all about a son growing up and then leaving his mother but eventually comes back. I saw this in theaters before The Incredible 2 and thought it was very cute but also sad.

Since Disney has now created its own platform, you will have to say goodbye to any Disney Show or Movie on any other streaming service like Netflix or Hulu.
