News for December 14

Today for the twelve days of Christmas, let’s see how Iceland celebrates.

Iceland has some unique traditions for the Christmas season. Everyone is supposed to receive a book on Christmas Eve, so book sales go way up during the holiday season. Icelanders also use the Yuletide season as a time to remember and appreciate their departed loved ones.

Tonight at 5:00 pm, the wrestling team will be traveling to Musselman High school for a match. Good luck to all our wrestlers!

The boys and girls JV basketball team will be playing North Hagerstown at 5:30 pm tonight. The girls are playing at North Hagerstown and the boys are home!

The girls and boys varsity basketball teams will be playing North Hagerstown tonight as well. Both games start at 7:00 pm. The boys are home and the girls are playing away. Good luck to all of our basketball players!

The boys and girls swimming and diving team had an unfortunate loss to Tuscarora. Boys lost 97-73 and the girls lost 127-73. Better luck next time swimmers!

Attention to any band students or musicians interested in participating in the county solo and ensemble festival. Sign up in the band room by today. The solo and ensemble festival dates are in February 2019. See Mr. Lloyd with any questions.

Do you want to try out for softball in the spring? If so, there will be a meeting during PREP on Tuesday, December 18th in the main gym. Please make your best effort to attend the meeting but if you are unable to attend, see Coach Poffenberger or Coach Baker for more information.  

Next week is holiday themed! Monday is holiday pajama day, Tuesday is bells and bows, Wednesday is ugly sweaters and holiday ties, Thursday is holiday hats, and Friday is Linganore holiday spirit. Wear your Linganore gear in a festive way!

Students who signed up for the Pit Orchestra for Beauty and the Beast will need to come to Mr. Dye’s office (D107) after school on Wednesday the 19th to sign out their music books.  You will need to practice for the first rehearsal on January 2nd at 2:30 p.m. in the Band Room. Please also get the Pit’s class code for Google Classroom.
