Club Sign Up Day 2014

by Hunter Killebrew, Reporter

On the third Wednesday of every month, there is club day, and there are eight club days each year. Some clubs may meet more often after school.

In September, the clubs host a Club Fair during all lunch shifts, and students can see what each club does.  Each club comes with an advertisement board to inform people who may be interested. Students can ask questions and learn more about the expectations.  You can join as many clubs as you want.  During the day, you can attend up to four meetings (one each class period), unless your grades are low.  On club day, teachers can ask you NOT to attend a club if you are struggling in that class–so that’s another reason to keep up your grades!

There are club dismissals after the 2nd half of each class. Students will receive club passes in first period on Club Day, and they must be eligible (meaning you have to keep your GPA above a 2.0, and make sure you don’t have any “F’s” on your interim or report card) to go to these clubs.

To actually leave the class, students must show the teacher their pass when they make an announcement to dismiss people for clubs. No need to worry about missing work because all teachers have agreed not to introduce any tests, quizzes, or anything new during club times.

Here is a partial list of clubs students could choose from in the 2014-2015 school year.  Don’t see something you want to do?  Students can START a club if they have a staff sponsor and apply.  See Mr. Jeremy Brown if you have a question about starting a club.
