In this podcast, reporters, Jada Redmond and Isabella Engler discussed their opinions on Chase Atlantic’s new album “Lost in Heaven,” released on November 1.
The band includes Mitchel Cave (vocalist), Clinton Cave (saxophonist and guitarist), Christian Anthony (bassist), Pat Wilde (lead guitarist), and Jesse Boyle (drummer). This album is their fourth studio album and marks the bands re-entry into the music industry after years of not releasing EPs or albums.
Redmond and Engler shared their thoughts on the instrumentals and ambiance of the new album, comparing the musical style of “Lost in Heaven” to their older albums such as “Phases”, “Beauty in Death” and “Chase Atlantic” (self titled).
This album has a very personal connection for the band members, as it includes songs which discuss topics of addiction, alcoholism, sacrifice, and love. The band is known for their struggle with drugs and alcohol, due to the prevalence of these topics in their song lyrics and references. Lost in Heaven has more sentimental lyrics, showing how the band has matured as a whole since they first began making music in 2014.
Some people may find their music controversial due to the mention of drugs and alcohol in their songs; the majority of their music revolves around those topics due to their own personal issues they’ve struggled with, which may trigger anyone not familiar with their style. Although this album mentions drugs and alcohol, the songs also touch on topics including love, anxiety, depression and relationships.
Regardless of the varying opinions on this album, Engler and Redmond believe the band has truly found their strengths in their newer style heard on this album.
The production of “Lost in Heaven” as a whole was euphoric, and their concert performances were cinematic; their graphics and vocals did not disappoint the fans.
