On February 21, Linganore finished 15th place out of 22 scoring teams at the MPSSAA 3A Indoor State Championships.
The main highlights of the event involved Linganore finishing 5th in the 4×800 meter relay, 7th in the 4×200 meter relay and Andrew Moxley placing 6th in the 55m hurdles.
Some students were happy with the team’s showing.
Linganore senior and sprinter Andrew Moxley was pleased with his performance.
“It was a great performance that will help me springboard into the spring season,” Moxley said.
Similarly, Linganore sophomore and mid-distance runner Wyatt Valenzuela, was happy with how his relay team ran.
“I think the 4×800 will set us up well for outdoor [track],” Valenzuela said. “If we are able to improve, we could medal at States.”
However, Linganore freshman and sprinter Jake Brown had mixed feelings about his own performance in the 4×200.
“On one hand, it’s impressive that as a freshman I made it to states,” Brown said. “On the other hand, I had the burning desire to win [and the relay team placed 7th]. So, overall, my feelings are mixed.
The Linganore boys’ track team’s next meet will be held March 20 at Linganore. The Lancers will face a plethora of schools from Maryland on their home turf.
