The Linganore Lancers put up an impressive performance, triumphing over the Oakdale Bears during the 2024 Homecoming game on Friday, September 27. They charged onto the field to the greeting of fireworks and applause.
The Lancers won 28-12 against the Bears. The game had fans cheering and shouting with excitement throughout the night.
“I’ve been having the most fun ever,” senior Robbie Blickenstaff said. “This is really peak high school years right here. This is peak high school.”
Senior Amir Short, scored the Lancer’s three touchdowns and made an interception. Lancer quarterback Shawn Pelovits threw 117 yards to contribute to Linganore’s win.
When Short got the interception, the whole stadium erupted in cheers.
“It’s been amazing; the team has been doing great,” Adrian Steed said. “You know, we’re up right now … I think it’s guaranteed that we’re going to win. Our defense has been amazing.”
One standout from the Linganore Homecoming game is the presence of Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders and players. Two Raven’s stars, Zay flowers and Isaiah Likely, stood near the sidelines, showing their utmost support for Linganore and expressing their Lancer pride.
In the first quarter, Oakdale scored three points. The Lancers acquired the lead soon after and kept it for the rest of the game. The Lancers’ hardy defense stopped Oakdale from having any chance at victory.
The Lancers are no stranger to dominating the competition, and this game was no different. From the opening kickoff, their intensity and skill set the tone, leaving no doubt about their determination to win.
