On February 7, Linganore senior Nathan Groves signed with Bridgewater College in Bridgewater Virginia to play lacrosse.
According to Rich Thompson, Linganore varsity boys’ lacrosse coach, Groves is a very hardworking and dedicated member of the Linganore varsity lacrosse program. Through his defensive efforts, he helped hold opponents to an average of only four goals per game, which Thompson said “is incredible on the lacrosse field.”
His coach described him as an incredibly hard worker who is “always looking to improve, never gripes, straps it up, goes to work” and “works hard every day.”
Groves enjoyed his time playing on the Linganore lacrosse team. Groves’ best memories consist of the good times he had with his friends. His favorite memories were “Just being with my friends. Just having a good time, practicing, and on and off the field.”
Groves’ father, Kelly Groves, is incredibly proud of what his son has accomplished and learned during his time at Linganore. He believes his son’s time on the varsity lacrosse team has been invaluable.
“I like the life lessons that it has taught, you know: perseverance, being a good teammate, working hard and being a part of this community,” Kelly Groves said. “I think there’s a lot of tradition in this community of Linganore that those qualities are represented in.”
Groves is excited to continue learning, having fun and playing lacrosse at Bridgewater.
“I just feel like I belong there, and I’ve got a good, like, family culture there,” Groves said about his decision to attend Bridgewater.
Groves is undecided on what he will be majoring in at college.
