The selection of the Tribe is a yearly tradition for the Linganore High School (LHS) football team. The Tribe consists of a group of students who have the honor to represent what LHS passion really looks like.
Every year, students vote on who should be the Tribe leader. This is considered a very important position and a time-honored tradition at LHS. Many students and alumni see the Tribe and the Tribe leader as the face of LHS. This year, senior Jack Todd has been elected as the Tribe leader for the 2024-25 school year.
Todd expressed his enthusiasm over this new role.
“It feels electric; we have a great atmosphere,” Todd said. “I’m excited to run the Tribe, and we’re going to have a great year.”
As the newly sanctioned eader, Todd was tasked with selecting the other members of the Tribe. The members selected included seniors Theodore Williamson, Connor Grow, Cory Clark, Dylan Hodgsonn, Josh Arthur, Ethan Kelsey, Jackson Webster, Marco LaRocco and Shawn Eisenhart. According to Todd, he wanted to pick people that he could rely on for getting the crowd excited during each game.
“I picked people that, you know, fit the part [and are] people that are going to be in the stands getting rowdy and getting the people into it,” Todd said.
Last Friday, Todd completed his first full week as Tribe leader. His tasks included leading the LHS chant after 2nd block on Linganore’s Main Street, going to the game and cheering on the varsity football team as loud as he could.
LaRocco and Williamson, Todd’s fellow Tribe members, are more than happy with how the first week went.
“Jack was great in the first game,” LaRocco said. “The people were hype and the energy was through the roof.”
Williamson agreed.
“Jack was pretty good in his first game ever,” Williamson said. “He always brings the energy to everything; that’s why I voted for him as Chief.”
The LHS varsity football team has been successful over the past couple of seasons, including playing in multiple state championships within the past three years. While they were ultimately unsuccessful in obtaining a championship win. Tribe members like Todd remain optimistic for this season.
LHS is looking forward to what Todd has in store for the upcoming year. It only remains to be seen just how far the LHS varsity football team will go?
