Shein is taking the shopping world by storm. With the hottest clothes on the market, and the best sales where could you go wrong? 

What is Shein? 

Shein describes themselves as “an international B2C fast fashion e-commerce platform (that) focuses on women’s wear, but also offers men’s apparel, children’s clothes, accessories, shoes, bags and other fashion items.” 

Shein gets its popularity from posts and shares on social media, such as Tik Tok and Instagram. The popular trends are to post your Shein cart and follow the post with a haul of what you got. Being able to see other people’s clothes, reviews, and highlights of Shein brings more publicity to the website.

Shein sounds great because of its low prices, wide variety, and its trendiness.

“I’ve bought clothes from Shein multiple times. Shipping does take a couple weeks. They give you an estimated time that the package will be there, and I’ve never had it come late,” Abbey Sovero said.

So the term “fast” fashion is kinda ironic when the shipping takes weeks to receive. 

“All of the stuff that I’ve ordered hasn’t been bad,” Sovero said. “You’re definitely getting what you paid for. It’s not super good quality but it’s also not bad. Overall, good for the price.”

Lindsey Green is an avid Shein user. She chooses to buy all of her swimsuits from the Shein app. Green said,  “The quality of the bathing suits are good, but the clothing tends to run small.”

One of Shein’s top sellers is swim suits. Li Diana is a lifestyle blogger. When she did a review, she said, “Shein has really stepped up its game in the swimsuits department, offering figure flattering and trendy styles for all shapes and sizes.”

Not only has Shein grown in sizes but it has gained a much greater following. In the past six months the website viewers went from 500,000 to 4 million. Shein’s growth has allowed the company to compete with popular brands such as ASOS, H&M, and Zara.

Now that Shein has swimsuits that fits body types it can now apply to anyone who is looking for a trendy swimsuit over the summer. The sizes range from an extra small to a 5XL. 

What makes customers question Shein is that it seems risky. Shein clothes are made and shipped from China. This causes concern for customers about whether their clothes will look like the picture online or if the website is a scam. 

“I wouldn’t say buying from Shein is risky, but I don’t shop from there too often, mainly because it’s fast fashion and it’s bad for the environment,” Sovero said.

Gabby Thompson is also a frequent Shein Shopper. She likes the return policy on clothes and the low prices. 

Shein has a 45 day return policy. On the first return, shipping is for free. But on the next returns there is a $7.99 fee that will be deducted from the refund. The cost of return might not be worth the overall price.

“It is much cheaper to buy trendy clothes or bathing suits from Shein other than name brand stores,” said Thompson. 

With clothing prices being higher than ever, Shein seems like the place to go. With affordable clothes that are also good quality it is clear that Shein is a great choice. Although the shipping does take longer than a week, with the price that you are getting for it is totally worth it.
