The girls finished third place, while the boys came in ninth place. The Urbana and Oakdale girls finished first and second. For the boys, TJ placed first.

Rachel McCoy shined bright at the meet, setting a new county record in the 50 freestyle. McCoy had a time of 24.72 seconds in the event. She also broke her own record in the 100 fly with a time of 56.46 seconds.

Many other swimmers also set their personal best records during Counties. Megan Brobst dropped .96 seconds in the 100 fly and 2.85 seconds in the 100 back, finishing 4th overall for each event. She went on to break the 100 back LHS record with a time of 1:01.45 at Regionals.

Katie Roach dropped 1.60 seconds in the 200 free and 3.02 seconds in the 500 free. She also finished in 4th place for both events.

In the 50 free, many people had very impressive times. Nick Condrasky improved by .19 seconds. Grecia Condrasky’s time was .75 seconds better. Emily Jonas’s time was .90 seconds faster. Kelly Safsten’s time was .43 seconds faster. Rylee Stevenson’s time was .28 seconds better.

In the 100 free, Emily Lotito dropped .71 seconds and Kerri Donohue .97 seconds.

“I think it was a great meet overall. We all did our best, and the girls ended up getting third place, which is amazing. Personally, I feel like I did well, too. It was a tough, long meet but a very fun one,” said Caroline Hobson, who also improved her time by 1.01 seconds in the 100 free.

Emiliy Lotito said, “My favorite part was being able to cheer on my friends and see friends from other schools.”

Overall, the boys and girls swim team did a great job in the counties meet.
