On April 12, varsity softball won 10-4 in a hard-fought game against Walkersville. Until the fifth inning, all bets were off if LHS could win.

This win was preceeded by junior varsity’s win against South Hagerstown on April 11.

Walkersville led most of the game, and was head 4-1 at the fifth inning.  Almost every girl up to bat had a hit which led to runs being scored and the Lancers taking the lead.

Amidst the rain, Lancers scored nine runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Prior to this, they only had one run scored in the 3rd inning. The rain caused the rest of the game to get rained out, so this secured the Lancers’ win.

Class of 2021 and shortstop Darbe Reesman said, “I think the game went very well. I don’t even know if we had an error, which is great! Everyone contributed [to the win] which is always amazing.”

She continued, “We are going to work hard in practice and just look at the goal of winning a state championship so we keep staying motivated.”

“As a team, we have gotten closer, we cheer each other on at all times, and it’s a good atmosphere to be in,” said Reesman.
