Spring pep rally showcases winter winners: Photo of the Day 4/12/19

On April 12, the students gathered together for a pep rally to recognize the past winter’s sports and activities and the upcoming spring sports and events.

Mr. Jeremy Brown, SGA adviser, organized the event and recognized the following individuals.

  • Swimming and Diving: Jessica Buntman, FCPS champion and State champion diver and Rachel McCoy broke the FCPS record in the 10 fly at 57.25. Furthermore both girls 200 medley and 400 Free Relays broke FCPS record as well
  • Girls JV and Varsity Basketball: Fiona Rowan, broke the school record for the number of 3 pointers per game.
  • Boys JV and Varsity
  • Ice Hockey
  • Cheerleading: FCPS winter champions, regional champions
  • Unified Bocce
  • Mock trial-county champions
  • Academic Team-locally and statewide
  • Winterguard

Spring sports and Activities

  • JV and Varsity Baseball
  • JV and Varsity Softball
  • Boys and Girls Tennis
  • Outdoor Track and Field-boys and girls
  • JV and Varsity Girls Lacrosse
  • JV and Varsity Boys Lacrosse
  • Pom and dance team: At the state championship Jazz took 2nd, Lyrical 4th place, and 3rd for total package. They also received the season’s sportsmanship award.
  •  Unified Track
  • School Newspaper, Lancer Media: 4th year in a row recognized as a distinguished SNO Site
  • Robotics Team: The team will be competing at George Mason in the Chesapeake District Championship
  • The ARTS: Courtney Larick, Finalist in for the Bettie Award, Colleen Avilla, was the Grand prize winner for the Bettie award

After giving recognition, Mrs. Doll handed out the state championship medals for those who received the title this winter. Michael and Earl Blake received individual medals for wrestling, Carter Holsinger, Joey Felton, Michael Belmaggio, and Colby Bannon received medals for their individual events on the Track and Field team, and the boys Track and field team also won received medals as a team for winning states.

Towards the end of the pep rally the drama program advertised their spring musical, Beauty and the Beast by singing the signature tune, “Beauty and the Beast.”
