Lancers vs. Hawks: Season finale and I70 trophy at stake
The regular season of Linganore football is winding down–and heating up. As of right now, the Lancers varsity team is currently 8-1 going into the November 2 game against the 2-7 Urbana Hawks. The momentum going into this game is as intense as it always is: Playoffs are one week away, and the I70 trophy is at stake.
With a Hawks offense that is more prone to run the ball than to pass it, Coach Rick Conner said, “We need to make sure we are in the right formation. Our execution needs to be on point.”
The coach, along with the rest of the staff and players, understands that any mistakes in this game could replicate in the playoffs. While getting sacked, for example, may not be the biggest mistake, in the playoffs, that could be the difference between a win or a loss.
The focus will be on the defense. The front seven has proven more often than not to put pressure on any quarterback and get sacks. The secondary has had rough moments but is easily capable of covering their assignments.
The game takes place at Urbana at 7:00 pm. Follow @linganorefb, @Frederick_Sports, and @Jason_Byrd2021 for Lignaore football coverage. Also, follow @LHSJournalism for more news at Linganore High School.
