SGA sells “Lancer Against Cancer” phone wallets: Photo of the Day 5/1/18

Class of 2019 Historian, Emily Wolfe, is spearheading a fundraiser to benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. She designed and created a phone wallet with the phrase “Lancers Against Cancer” to help raise awareness for Relay for Life and to raise money for cancer research.
Wolfe is very passionate about this project; the topic is very near and dear to her heart. Her father, Chris Wolfe, passed away from cancer a few years ago.
Since my dad worked at Linagnore, it was nice to do something in his memory that combined the two ideas together — Linganore High School and Cancer. I’ve seen colleges and other organizations fundraising in a similar way and I thought the phone wallets were a really cool idea.”
Relay for Life is being held on May 11th at the Banner School in Frederick from 7 P.M.-7 A.M.
“Please go to relay for life,” said Wolfe. “You don’t have to stay there for the whole 12 hours, even a half hour helps raise money for a great cause.”
First SGA Vice President, Teddy Britton has attended Relay for Life multiple times.
“It’s a great event,” said Britton. “My freshman year, the weather was great. I ended up staying the whole time. My favorite memory from previous years was the lap at 1 a.m. where people go around and light luminaries that are set up while a man plays the bagpipes to honor those who’ve lost their fight against cancer.”
The SGA is still selling phone wallets for $5. All of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. They are being sold at the school store, located next to the Student Services office, or you can see any SGA member for more details. Purchase yours today and join the fight against cancer!
