Class of 2018 Bright Futures: Bridget Murphy is ready to leave her paw print at JMU
Senior Destinations 2018
After visiting her brother for four years, Bridget Murphy has come to love the campus of James Madison University. The beauty of the campus and the kindness of the people drew Murphy to love the school and want to call it home.
Bridget plans to major in media arts & design with a concentration in journalism.
“I plan on having a big career that affects a lot of people in positive ways,” said Murphy. She hopes that her stories can reach out to a large group of people and help them have a public voice. “I’m looking forward to meeting new people and starting my life in a new light because once I meet new people, I’ll grow as a person.”
While at JMU, Bridget plans to visit the campus recreational center and join a number of clubs and organizations. “JMU has a newspaper called The Breeze which is an offered club, so I will definitely be joining that as soon as I get there.”
She said, “Mrs. Rebetsky has taught me most of the skills that I will use in college. She has pushed me to write about the stories that I am most passionate about. She has helped me to become the writer that I am today.” As a four year journalism student, Murphy has risen through the ranks, becoming The Lance’s Co-Editor-In-Chief and has published two Best of Sno stories: “Unpopular opinon: My love affair with Pandora” and “Give us a break! Seniors beg for a weekend off from homework.”
Her advice to underclassmen, is don’t let drama, friends, or boys ruin your day or your week, or ruin a friendship because it’s not going to matter to you in three months or three years about who said what or who did what.”
