On November 11 the boys cross country team competed for the 2017 state title and beat 21 other schools, bringing the MPSSAA 3A State Champion title to Linganore for the first time since 1993.

The meet was held at Hereford High School, which is know for its difficult 3-mile course with two hills put together (“the dip”).

Michael Belmaggio came in second place overall with a stunning time of 16:14. Since his first high school state meet in 2015, Belmaggio has cut nearly 60 seconds off of his time.

Also placing in the top 20 was Kyle Guinn (5th place), Will Cioffi (16th place), and Spencer Askine (17th place).

Coach Andres Wright says that even though the weather was cold and the course slippery, which lead to two racers falling early in the race, the entire team was excited and very pleased with their performance.

The girls cross country team also competed at the state meet, and placed 14th out of 17 teams.
