Students who are in Pre-Vet/Small Animal Care class and staff members have the opportunity to bring in well behaved dogs for the grooming unit. Students learn how to properly cut nails, clean ears, bathe, blow dry, and groom.

Mrs. Patricia Beachy teaches Pre-Vet/Small Animal Care, Horticulture 1, and Intro to Agriculture Science and Technology this semester. She has been teaching at Linganore for 21 years and has been allowing students in her Pre-vet class and staff members to bring in pets for 10 years.  It’s one of the most popular events of the year.

Students and staff are bringing in their dogs between December 1 to December 20. The class can handle more than one dog a day, rotating through eight student grooming groups.

Also, the Pre-Vet/Small Animal Care class is starting their Annual Drive of spare change. The class decorated glass jars and handed them out to teachers to collect change.

They will be collecting spare change up until Wednesday, December 20. All money collected will be donated to The Frederick County Animal Control. The funds raised will help purchase food for animals, and it will help provide health care and proper housing.

Dog owners getting their dog groomed by Pre-Vet students can also make a donations to The Frederick County Animal Control.

If you are interested in animals, try taking Pre-Vet/Small Animal Care or Pre-Vet/Large Animal Science and Horse Care Management.
