The Girls Varsity Basketball team won their game over Oakdale High School with the final score of 54-30. The Lady Lancers were in the lead throughout the entire game, starting the second half with a score of 31-15.

This 2016-2017 season the team has an impressive record of eight wins and only one loss, improving since their 6-7 2015-2016 season. Varsity coach Rachel Easterday, new to the LHS staff, has coached the girl’s varsity team for four years.  She played for Linganore when she was in high school and then continued her basketball career at Shepherd University.

Senior on the team, Caroline Ward, was named 1st Team All-Area Field Hockey by the Frederick News Post, along with sophomore, Fiona Rowan who was named 1st Team All-Area Soccer by the Frederick News Post. They are multi-sport athletes who were recognized for their commitment to their teams.

“The best part of this season and being on the team this year is knowing that we are all improving and getting better because we work harder and harder every practice to get where we are,” said junior, Brianna Dellavalle.
