On December 19, the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team took on the Oakdale Bears in one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. LHS edged out 69-65,  and the team played incredibly well.

Throughout the entire game, the team fought hard and played with unity, and although the Bears were often dominating on the scoreboard, the Lancers’ effort and hustle got them lead near the end of the fourth quarter. Senior Drew Twillman put up 18 points, helping lead the Lancers to victory. Senior Nick Lang had 29 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Christian Nolan said, “I’d say I played a ‘good game’, but personally, I believe stats are just numbers. Sure they show up on the scoreboard, but the team as a whole has to play with one another and play their role, and that’s how we won against Oakdale. When we make a mistake, we pick each other up and move on to the next play. Some people may have played well, and others may have played bad, but we all have one goal: a state ring. I’m positive anyone on the team will agree and say we were happy just to win and move on to the next game.”

The next varsity basketball game is scheduled for Thursday, December 21st at 7:00 p.m. against Governor Thomas Johnson at Governor Thomas Johnson.
