Wade Stieren officially signs to Clarion University football
February 10, 2016
Attracted to Clarion for its biology department, the major he wants to study, and the warm welcome he received from the other players and the coaching staff, Free safety #3 Wade Stieren made a commitment on February 3rd to play football for the Golden Eagles. Stieren likes the friendliness of the environment and the support of coaching staff.
“The coaching staff told me I could make a big impact freshman year, and I felt really good about the way the team welcomed me. They have a good biology department, which is what I want to study.”
Stieren had 63 tackles 1 sack, and 2 interceptions in the 2015-2016 season. Ever since the end of this season, Stieren said he was convinced to play football at a collegiate level. His biggest supporters to do so throughout the years were Coach Conner, his parents, and his older brother, Clark. Clark played for LHS as a quarterback and is now sophomore in college.
“Dave and I (Wade’s father) just gave Wade our support and told him our thoughts, but it was ultimately his decision so Wade made his choice based on academics and then football,” said Trish Stieren, his mother. “I am very excited for Wade, and I think he will be very successful.”
Stieren is looking forward to playing on a higher league because he knows that they will push him harder to improve. However, he said that he would certainly miss Linganore, especially the Friday night games, and how crazy the school gets on game day.
“I want to thank my parents first of all, and my friends who pushed me throughout the years, and all the people who came out to the games,” said Stieren during the signing ceremony.
