On February 3rd, 2016, surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and teammates, Daniel Ross signed his letter of intent to play lacrosse for Army. After verbally committing to West Point in the middle of his sophomore season, Ross could hardly wait for National Signing Day to finally come.

Ross said, “I always knew I wanted to go into the military, and I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college, so West Point was the best option for me.”

Ross also received an offer from the Naval Academy, but after visiting West Point’s beautiful campus, and learning all the long-held traditions of Army, Dan knew it was the place for him.

Lynn Ross, Ross’ mother, fully supports of his decision. Mrs. Ross is excited for Dan’s future in lacrosse and in the Army, “I was very impressed with the coaching staff. It was awesome to see all the morale they had and the way they welcomed Dan,” she said.

It is no surprise Ross gets along well with his future teammates and coaches. His current coach, Coach Stan Swoyer said, “Dan embodies what team is all about. He puts his teammates before himself and is always willing to help another athlete out with anything they need.”

Coach Swoyer believes Ross’ humble personality and strong leadership qualities that he displays on and off the field will take him very far in life. Ross is already involved in various activities outside of lacrosse. He is an active member in his youth group at church, a regular attendant of Young Life club, and a contestant of the 2016 Mr. Linganore pageant.

Ross will be joined at West Point by fellow Lancers, Emma Roerty and Tyler Fleagle. The Frederick News Post reported on the three commits.
