On Monday, May 16, the vocal ensemble class performed in a concert under the conduction of the choral director, Mr. Damon Dye.

The group consists of 12: Gabriela Coca Leon, Cassia Connolly, Michelle Gass, Karly Johnson, Martha Madrid, Paige Marley, Deanna Parenti, Vanessa Warren, Abbie Weinel, Megan Wilhelm, Madeline Wodaski, and Grace Yingling.

This year’s vocal ensemble dominated competition as well throughout the semester. They scored the highest possible ranking in their county adjudication, then did the same at states, for the first time in LHS history.

Junior Martha Madrid said, “It was great to get to make friends with all of the new members this year and work together to make something beautiful.”

At the concert, the Dye shared some of the girls’ favorite parts of the season, including eating cheesecake after states, scoring as well as they did, and spending their time with an incredibly talented group of singers.

During the show, Dye said, “They’re a really talented group and worked really hard this year.”

The show featured ten pieces, from “Le nozze di Figaro” by Mozart, to “Royals” by Lorde. Senior Neesa Conlon was the featured flute soloist, and Andrew Livioco beatboxed as well. Many songs were also accompanied by Gary Schwartz, the pianist for the concert.
