On May 16, 2016, Girl’s Varsity Softball won the sectional semi-finals against Governor Thomas Johnson High School. The Lancers had 11 runs against the Patriots’ 4.

The team is hoping to make it back to the 3A State Champion game and bring home a title.

Not only were the girls playing for the chance to get to the next round of playoffs, they were also playing for their seniors. Since the last senior night game had been canceled due to rain, the players had their make up senior night.

Four seniors were honored:  Corinne Bremmer, Bailey Clum, Kayleigh Day, and Tanner Ridgley. Each senior wore a green shirt in contrast to the underclassmen black shirts.  The seniors were given senior buckets filled with goodies, blankets with pictures attached, and each senior was a captain before the game.

Junior Shelby Iager said, “I’m going to miss playing with all of the seniors. It was great playing with them the past two years.”

Ridgley and Day will continue their education and athletics at Stevenson University. Day will play softball, while Ridgley will play field hockey.

Bremmer is going to Valley Forge College next year and wants to major in education.

Clum has decided to stay close to home and go to Frederick Community College next year.
