These chocolate-glazed, cinnamon donuts are a delicious treat just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Yield: 12 donuts

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients for the donuts:

Baking spray with flour

2 cups of all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups of sugar

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoons of ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

1 extra-large egg, lightly beaten

1 1/4 cups of whole milk

2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract

Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray 2 doughnut pans well.
  2. Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  3. Spoon the batter into the baking pans, filling each one a little more than three-quarters full. Bake for 17 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then tap the doughnuts out onto a sheet pan.

Ingredients for the chocolate glaze:

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

2 tablespoons hot water

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix together ingredients in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  2. As sauce cools it will begin to thicken. Add additional hot water (1-2 teaspoons at a time) to thin if needed.
  3. Dip the donuts in the glaze, which will cover about 12 donuts.
