Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) will hold their first meeting on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. This club is open to all high school girls interested in STEM.  No registration is necessary and students just show up when available. The club meets on Wednesday evenings at the Earth and Space Science Lab from 7:00 – 8:15 pm

Anyone wishing to come to the Media Center during PREP must sign-up in the Media Center and be requested.  A limited number of students may come each day and preference will be given to collaborative groups and those needing to research.  If you are not requested by the Media Center, you will not be admitted.  Any questions should be directed to Ms. Thompson in the Media Center.

Students are encouraged to log on to Naviance and check out your college visit options and scholarship information that is available. There is new information being posted daily.  Please visit your Naviance account regularly to review the opportunities available.  Check out this valuable information. It is yours for the taking.  If you have additional questions, see your Guidance Counselor.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 High School Level Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program.  This program provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer.  SEAP is open to high school students.  It pays $3,300 for new students and $3,800 for returning students for the eight week summer internship.  More information and details about eligibility can be found at http://seap.asee.org/.   Applications are due by November 30, 2016.  See any science or engineering teacher for details.

As a reminder, the marching band practices in the front student parking lot TONIGHT.  Please make sure all vehicles have been moved from the student lot by 4:30 pm.

Any student who has a locker must have it secured with a lock by this Thursday, September 8th.   All unsecured lockers will be zip-locked on Friday.

Any junior or senior interested in joining the LHS Science National Honor Society must pick up an application outside of A139 (Mr. Sunkel’s) room.
