Actors, techies, and directors are honored at the annual Drama Honor Society banquet. Every year a handful of students are honored with “Lazzie” awards, which are cleverly named after the drama department teacher, Julian Lazarus. Though Lazarus is not alone in his theater department efforts. For the past three years, English teacher, Damon Norko, has assisted and directed numerous productions.
This year LHS put on three main stage productions: Our Town, Anything Goes, and the student written/produced show Best Served Cold.
Peers cast their ballots for the 2015 “Lazzie’s.” This year seniors took the gold with Morgan Buchanan for “Best Character Actress:Female,” Michaela DeRosa for “Best Supporting Actress: Female,” and Dillon Mitcham for “Best Character Actor: Male,” “Four Year Student Achievement,” and “Student Director.” Several other students also received awards at this event.
DeRosa said, “I like to pretend these are the Academy Awards and I’m receiving my Oscar.”
Congratulations to all of the night’s winners.
