Green Valley Elementary School’s (GVES) first graders came to Linganore on October 6 to experience the best the New Market area has to offer.

These students experienced agriculture, art and fun firsthand. GVES students had their faces painted, made corsages, pet barnyard animals, and created other crafts.

Marie Wiehler, GVES first grade teacher, said, “I love that the first grade students get to experience such a variety of things. They get to enjoy face-painting,  goat-petting, gourd-decorating, and straw-rides.”

Linganore’s community show is of no charge to the elementary schools. This allows students from low income families to attend this free field trip, whereas they might not be able afford a “regular” field trip. Wiehler thanked Linganore and said that the community show has offered this great exerience for as long as she has been teaching.

All Linganore feeder schools’ first graders can attend the community show. Many Linganore students remember attending the community show when they were in first grade themselves.
