Lancer Media attends Frederick News Post Awards: Photo of the Day 4/21/15

On April 21, Lancer Media went on a field trip to the Frederick News Post building for the annual Mike Powell Frederick News Post Awards. They enjoyed a buffet style brunch and received individual writing awards for their accomplishments this year. Awards highlight the achievements of high school journalism in the county. Also in attendance were Frederick, Urbana, Middletown, and Walkersville high school journalism classes. Middletown High School’s newspaper was recognized as the top paper in the county this year.

The Frederick News Post featured a photo of each school’s journalism students on their website. Following the photo op, Pete McCarthy, Daily News Editor, gave the group a tour around the building..
Geordie Wilson, the publisher of The Frederick News Post also gave some words of wisdom during this event, which included “Doing journalism is a little less glamorous– it’s hard work. . . When you do it right, you change the world a little bit.”
