Lancers:  Today is the second of four student assemblies held in the auditorium during the second half of second block.  Please be sure that you attend on the assigned date because space is limited.  An announcement will be made for classes to be dismissed around 9:55 a.m.

Students may submit schedule change forms to Student Services through Friday, August 28th only.

Maryland law prohibits anyone from possessing a rifle, gun, knife or deadly weapon of any kind on any public school property in this state.  Possession of a weapon (including look-a-likes) may result in your permanent removal from all Frederick County Public Schools.

The marching band will be rehearsing on the student side of the front parking lot every Tuesday and Thursday evening.  All cars MUST be moved from the lot by 4:30 pm on these days.  If you have an after-school activity, please move your vehicle before your activity begins.

Attention band and guard members:  This is a reminder that uniform fees and forms, fundraising orders, and theme shirt orders are all due tomorrow, Thursday, August 27th.  See Mr. Lloyd with any questions.

Any student interested in playing for the Unified Tennis team must attend an information meeting on Thursday, August  27th at 2:20 p.m. in Coach Sunkel’s Room  A139.  Practice will begin on Tuesday, September 1st.

We will be distributing the spring supplement to students who bought the 2015 yearbook during all lunch shifts on Friday, August 28th outside the cafeteria.  Please remember to stop by and pick one up. If you are not here Friday, please stop by Room A206, next week, to pick one up.

If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior with an interest in architecture, construction, or engineering, apply THIS WEEK to be part of the ACE Mentor Program.  This is a year-long program where students from all over the county work in teams to develop solutions to design problems with the help of engineering professionals.  The meetings are held twice a month in the early evening at a local business.   To apply, go to www.acementor.org.  You must apply this week!   See Ms. Radil-Harris in Room C103 or any Project Lead the Way teacher for details.

The applications for the National English Honor Society are available at http://linganorenehs.weebly.com/.  They are due no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14th.  Students must be juniors or seniors and must have an unweighted cumulative average overall of 3.0 or higher with all “A’s” and “B’s” in English classes.  To be selected, students must have demonstrated enthusiasm for language arts.

Applications for Linganore’s Math Honor Society, known as Mu Alpha Theta, are available outside of Room A140.  Please see Mrs. Purgason with any questions.

On Friday, August 28th and Monday, August 31st, parking permits will be available for purchase during all lunch shifts in the cafeteria.  Applications are available in the front office and must be completely filled out, with a parent signature, ahead of time.
