Attention members of the Class of 2018 club:  Please remember there is an after school meeting today in Ms. Scuffins’ room C207.  This meeting is open to sophomores interested in helping with the homecoming festivities.  The meeting will run approximately thirty minutes.  Hope to see you there!

Attention all Model UN delegates:  There will be a meeting today after school in Mr. Roberts’ room until 3:30 pm.

The volleyball teams will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our Dig Pink game Thursday night against Brunswick.  We hope you can come out and support our efforts to raise money for breast cancer research and support for breast cancer patients.

Also on Thursday, the SGA will be kicking off its Breast Cancer Awareness efforts for October.  Our first big show is at the football game Friday night, which will be a PINK OUT!  Order your official Lancer Pink Out shirt all this week for the game.  Order forms are at lunch and online.  The cost is $15.

On Friday, October 2nd at 7:00 am in the Student Services Conference Room across from the cafeteria, there will be a Class of 2019 meeting to finalize Homecoming plans.   If you can’t attend at 7:00 am, just come when you get to LHS.  Bring designs for the hill and banner!

Seniors are reminded that transcript request forms must be submitted to Student Services by Friday, October 2nd, if you are applying to colleges with a November 1st deadline, such as the University of Maryland.

Also for seniors:  On Friday, October 2nd, Victor O’Neill will be here for our final senior portrait make up session.  This session is for yearbook pictures only.  The schedule is posted on Main Street for those who haven’t yet had their pictures taken.

Underclass picture make ups will also be held in the auditorium on Friday, for anyone who missed the first session, or if you would like to have a retake.  Schedules for these make ups are also posted on Main Street.

Are you a junior with a strong interest in science or medicine?  If so, you may want to consider applying for an internship at the National Cancer Institute at Ft. Detrick. To learn more about this opportunity, attend an informational session on Friday, October 16th at 9:30 a.m. (no school) at the Advanced Technology Research Facility Auditorium off Gas House Pike.

Scientists from the National Cancer Institute will also be hosting a series of monthly lectures in the evenings for high school students and parents interested in learning about the kinds of research being conducted at NCI Frederick. The first lecture will be held on the evening of Wednesday, October 21st.

Is it time for you to get W.I.S.E?  WISE stands for Women in Science and Engineering.  Consider joining W.I.S.E. to participate in hands on learning experiences related to STEM careers, make connections with professionals that could lead to internships, and learn what it really means to be employed in a STEM career.  Participation is FREE and no pre-registration is required.  The first meeting is Wednesday, October 14th.  For more information on the internships, the lecture series, or W.I.S.E., see Ms. Radil-Harris or Mr. Brown in room C103.

And finally, congratulations to the JV volleyball team on their victory over Tuscarora last night.
