Spirit week continues!  Thanks to everyone showing spirit today in your “Blast from the Past” outfits.  A reminder that tomorrow’s dress is “Team USA Day – Red, White, and Blue”.  Ninth graders should wear red, sophomores will wear white, juniors will wear blue, and seniors need to have all three colors!  Show your colors, proud and true!

Hopefully, you got a chance to see the class banners hanging on Main Street. If not, go check them out!  The judges have looked at all the banners and their results are in:  3rd place goes to the Class of 2016, 2nd place goes to the Class of 2018, and 1st place is awarded to the Class of 2017. Great job everyone!

We continue our class spirit competition, as donations are being collected for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides” walk to fight breast cancer.  Collection containers for each class will be available during all lunch shifts.  These donations will equal points in the race for the spirit stick.  More importantly, your donations will help with research to end breast cancer.  Donate to help us reach our goal of $2,500!  Tomorrow is the final day for lunch donations.

Any students wishing to attend a quiet study hall instead of the Pep Rally on Thursday can sign up in the Media Center.  Students will be expected to work quietly on their own.

All students taking the PSAT tomorrow MUST report directly to their testing location by 7:30 am.  All seniors will report directly to the auditorium, tomorrow morning, for the senior meeting.

Also for seniors:  This Thursday, October 15th, is the final deadline to select your senior picture yearbook pose.  See your proof package from Victor O’Neill Studios for instructions.  Contact them directly, with any questions, at www.vosphoto.com

Great news for juniors interested in a career as a physician, nurse, or researcher! Applications are now being accepted for science internships at the National Cancer Institute at Ft. Detrick.  Because of our proximity to the research facility at Ft. Detrick, you are one of the few students in the United States with this opportunity.  Don’t miss out!  See any science teacher, Ms. Radil-Harris, or Mr. Brown for details.

The Animals 101 Club is collecting donations for Frederick County Animal Control’s “Wish List”.  If you have any items you would like to contribute, please contact either Ms. Burall in room B111, or any of our Animals 101 club members.

Mock trial will meet today after school from 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm in room A213.  Please bring your signed contracts to practice.

Anyone interested in trying out for a spot in the boys basketball program is asked to stop by Coach Kraft’s office (B102) to sign up for try-outs and to pick up information and paperwork.  Try-outs begin Saturday November 14th.

Great job to the Varsity field hockey team, as they held onto to their 2-1 lead, defeating Walkersville last night for the win.
