Also for seniors:  On Friday, October 2nd, Victor O’Neill will be here for our final senior portrait make up session.  This session is for yearbook pictures only and will be held in the auditorium.  The schedule is posted on Main Street for those who haven’t yet had their pictures taken.  Underclass picture make ups have been rescheduled for Friday, October 23rd.

Are you a junior with a strong interest in science or medicine?  If so, you may want to consider applying for an internship at the National Cancer Institute at Ft. Detrick. To learn more about this opportunity, attend an informational session on Friday, October 16th at 9:30 a.m. (no school) at the Advanced Technology Research Facility Auditorium off Gas House Pike.

Scientists from the National Cancer Institute will also be hosting a series of monthly lectures in the evenings for high school students and parents interested in learning about the kinds of research being conducted at NCI Frederick. The first lecture will be held on the evening of Wednesday, October 21st.

Is it time for you to get W.I.S.E?  WISE stands for Women in Science and Engineering.  Consider joining W.I.S.E. to participate in hands on learning experiences related to STEM careers, make connections with professionals that could lead to internships, and learn what it really means to be employed in a STEM career.  Participation is FREE and no pre-registration is required.  The first meeting is Wednesday, October 14th.  For more information on the internships, the lecture series, or W.I.S.E., see Ms. Radil-Harris or Mr. Brown in room C103.
